What's up at the ZooClub?

After ending off their 2011 programme on a high note with a visit to Nyoka Vulture Restaurant, the ZooClub kicked off this year's programme with the selection of the new committee members for 2012.

The interesting theme of Archaeology was selected for the ZooClub's first Saturday interaction day. The Zookies attended presentations about fossils, the theory of evolution and the conservation of rock art, after which they got the opportunity to make their own fossils and rock art paintings.

February and March ZooClub activities include a visit to NECSA - in conjunction with the 2012 United Nations theme of "Sustainable Energy for all". Other activities will include microscope work and ecological assessments of the Apies River and the assessment and control of alien plants in the zoo as well as a trip to Maropeng - the Cradle of Humankind, at the end of March.
